Prevent Identity Theft

 
bulletDo not print your social security number, driver’s license number, or phone number on your checks or other printed material you may give to strangers.
 
bulletLimit the confidential information in your wallet in case it is lost or stolen. Do not carry your social security card.
 
bulletRecord your credit card account numbers and the company’s toll-free numbers somewhere you can easily retrieve them should you need to report them lost or stolen.
 
bulletUse direct deposit to receive payroll checks, government issued checks, or interest checks.
 
bulletIf someone contacts you by phone or e-mail saying you are a victim of fraud, verify the person’s identity and contact the bank directly before you provide any personal information.
 
bulletLastly, promptly review your monthly bank statements and credit card statements to verify transactions.
